I think my Denali's alternator is on its way out. I'll put a ohmmeter on it this weekend to confirm. Just wondering what everyone is running for an alternator?

I see there are several "250a" "big case" alts on amazon. They seem to be priced about the same as the 145a reman alts. I'm considering going this route. Skepticism: Is this just an overdriven stock style alternator?

I know that 105a and 145a were available for my year, not sure what I have currently. 160a were available for new vehicles and I think they are not interchangeable.

The 105 and 145 are interchangeable, they have a different length belt tho. Regardless of what you currently have, I'd just go with a locally sourced good brand 145 amp alt, reman or new is up to you but a lifetime warranty is a big plus.
I don't have experience with big amperage ones but unless you are running some crazy electronics I wouldn't mess with them. IF...big if...you had an issue, you'd have to mess with return shipping and all that and to me its not worth the headache.
Looking at the picture on amazon, it looks just like the "big" case the 145 amp has compared to the "small" case the 105 amp has. That picture looks identical to my 145 on my truck. Same exact case. Even says the same delco automotive systems.
