I'm looking to upgrade my head unit in my 2012 Yukon. The main reason is I can't play aac files which is the ITunes format. Its a pain in the ass to try to convert my 1000+ songs to mp3 and they don't sound as loud and clean. Really want something that looks factory but is new tech. I saw some guys were buying $1000 Advent decks but is there anything cheaper? Maybe without a cd player?

No matter which head unit you choose, you'll need to buy the interface to keep the steering wheel controls and other factory integration. Go on crutchfield.com and put in your vehicle specs. You can see which accessories are needed to retain the desired factory controls.

As stated above, Crutchfield is the place to start your search. They have excellent customer service, in that they will tell you what else is needed in addition to the head unit to complete your installation (bezel to fit, controls interface device, etc.). Even if you don't end up purchasing the unit from Crutchfield, take advantage of their ancillary equipment requirements and installation advisory service.
In past discussions, many folks here tend to purchase Kenwood or Pioneer units, though there are other good choices, as well.
