Newbie here...could not find clear answers on forum so apologies if its there somewhere.

I have a 2018 Tahoe with the Z85 rear air shocks (NOT the z95 magneride). I want to ditch the system entirely and go with Bilsteins and add my own airbags (maybe AirLift 1000?) for towing my very heavy 26' Mako. Do I need to change the springs? Where do I put resistors to fool the system into thinking the air level system is still present? Do I just disconnect the air compressor and remove the ride height sensor arm? THanks in advance guys.

No replies yet. I found this from Xineering (
) on how to fake out the air compressor (to pass self check) but still wondering what has to be done to fake out the ride level sensor (resistor?) and whether different springs will be needed to go along with the Bilstein 4600's (maybe 5100's) in the rear when I remove the factory air shocks. I don't plan on doing anything to the front.
My boat's tongue weight is going to be way more than the factory air shocks on this 2018 Z85 Tahoe will handle, and my impression is the Z85 air shocks ride more harshly than the ZW7 smooth ride (conventional shock/spring) suspension. I know they are prone to bladder rupture also.

I'm still having good luck with the AirLift 1000 bags on my OLD 2004 Tahoe. That truck had self-leveling Nivomats that I changed to Bilstein 4600's and Z71 springs. It rides GREAT now, and I'm just trying to figure out how to get to a similar situation on the rear of this 2018 Tahoe with the NHT max trailering package. I got this vehicle for the 3.42 differential but really don't want the auto level suspension.
