The reason for the changeout for ME...
I had a bad balljoint on the passenger side. Since I was already getting new struts, the UCAs were being pulled, so I figured I'd do both since they were pulled apart. The same thinking was with the tie-rods in that I might was well knock them out while everything was taken apart. One disassembly and one alignment for all of the above to be completed.

I am surprised your ball joints went out that fast. Do you take it offroad a lot? Also how did you know they were bad?

I was told by the dealer that one was going out. This was reaffirmed after I told them that I would be using aftermarket parts and therefore not their service.

I don't offload much but the roads here are so awful I practically do.
