Alright so I am in serious desperate need of some new shocks up front and out back on my 99 4x4 Yukon... I am trying to figure out which Bilstein shocks I should go with... I see there are 2 versions that can go with and am not sure what came on the truck from the factory. I was hoping someone could tell me what came stock on the 1999 Tahoe's and Yukon's as well as which of these 2 shocks I should go with.

Bilstein Heavy Duty (HD) Shocks
BE5-A405-H0 (FRONT RIGHT & LEFT)
B46-2179-H0 (REAR RIGHT & LEFT)

Bilstein Comfort Shocks
BE5-2412-H0 (FRONT RIGHT & LEFT)
BE5-2413-H0 (REAR RIGHT & LEFT)

Of course I am open to other suggestions too if you guys have em, lets hear em.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Johnny Racer

I just bought a set. I wanted to go with the comfort shocks this time around. But what I learned is that for the 2 door 4wd only the heavy duty shocks are available. Checked the Bilstein site and called them as well.
99 % of my driving is highway and I wanted a little softer ride.
Anyway, I went with the HD Bilstein.
To the best of my knowledge Bilstein's were stock on the '99's. At least they were on mine. If you don't carry a lot of stuff or go off road often I would go with the comfort.

Yeah I know my truck has Bilstein's on it just not sure if they are the HD or Comfort shocks and what the same ones that are on it. I do occasionally tow an open trailer with a car on it but have load leveling bars and a sway bar kit for the trailer so not so much worried about the towing end of it... thats what the Dually is for but every now and then I use the Yuk. I guess aside from opinions on other shocks, I really need to know what came on the 99 4x4 4 door Yukons from GM.

Get Reflex's from Monroe, Sears is running a special, Half OFF, install them yourself.

Or the Sensatrac's!

There is a whole thread dedicated to this very question HERE. It's an age old question. It's a question that has many different answers as you ask many different people.

As an update to that thread, I now hate my Monroe's. They are blown again. I will be going to Bilsteins this spring. And I will be getting the comforts.

I just don't think that the Monroe's can handle gravel roads with washboard. They are probably just fine for trucks that stay on pavement.

Hope that helps ya!
