The carpet itself is relatively inexpensive to replace, but it's labor intensive to install.

A second option is clothing dye. Get some in the color that matches best, mix it with water, and soak it into the carpet a few times until you get the desired effect.

I'd try lightly brushing over it with a WIDE permanent black marker. I did this once in a similar situation and it worked pretty well. (Nothing is ever going to match perfectly and you can control a marker much better than you can a liquid dye.)
