Ok so it was working fine all settings worked like they should then last night I turned it down from hi to medium and it hasn't worked since. I've read that it's the resistor but unsure of how to check this? Any help would be great since its winter here now and it's cold out. It's a 98 Yukon

if it does not work on high speed or any lower ones the motor may be at fault or the switch or power supply.Disconnect the motor lead and use a multimeter to test for voltage while cycling thru the speed settings. Check you hvac fuse as well. If no voltage is seen at any speed and fuse is good suspect the motor speed switch on the dash control panel.

Where is the motor speed control switch located? It's odd because my knob doesn't feel the same? If that makes sense. It just doesn't click from off to hi the same as it did. Idk I'll check the fuse and blower when I get home. it's to cold for this. Everything I have read tells me it's the resistor. It also doesn't work on any setting btw.But thanks sunlit you are a savior

Ok well I just checked the blowers hot wire with volt meter and there's nothing while turning the switch so I hot wired the blower and it comes on so I know it's not the blower does this mean it's the switch your referring too? Or could it be the resistor?

Typically when a resistor goes bad the speeds will start to drop off one by one. They typically don't all go at the same time when the resistor is bad. I would replace the switch Sunlit talked about. Your test results point that way especially since you say it feels different than before.

AC Delco #1572275 $15.82 at Rock Auto. Look them up at Rock Auto for the correct application.

Ok well I just tore it all apart and the connector pigtail is melted, the blower motor switch looks fine. Is there a way to test the switch since the connector was the only thing melted? Or should I just replace them both? And do I have to splice the new connector in or what? Thanks so much you guys it's cold here in Michigan and I need this heat having children right now, and you pretty much saved the day

Replace both. Problem with switch caused the melted connector. Standard Products #S1044 blower switch connector at Rock Auto. Double check all fuses, also.

Also, bear in mind that the failure could have damaged part of the circuit at the resistor so you may not have all speeds when get all together.

Replace the switch and the pigtail item I mentioned before. Splice in the connector. Since all wires on new pigtail are white do one at a time matching connectors wire position to wire position. The contact in the switch are likely damaged as well and are not repairable.
