Hello,

I did a quick search and couldn't find the info ... perhaps someone could help me locate it?

I'm trying to find 'official' GM drawings/blueprints for the nnbs Tahoe ... both for the regular Tahoe livery and for the Hybrid.

I have some ideas for some potentially interesting modifications, but I need to identify some very specific assembly information and where some subtle design/fabrication differences are between the two models in order to know if they will work or not.

Perhaps such drawings aren't available to the general public, but I thought I'd ask just in case.

Any help or information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Um... Is it common for companies to put blueprints out there where their competitors et al can view them? Sounds odd to me. I'd imagine there's a good reason why you can't locate them.

Thanks Craig, that might be what I am looking for ... I'll try and locate one for the Tahoes.

Kirk, Eric, I'm not looking for top secret military drawings, not even for proprietary company secrets ... once a car is out in the public anyone and any competitor can take it apart if they want to know it's 'super secrets' :)

I'm just looking for drawings, that any dealership service center or body shop would need to be able to effect mechanical and body repairs.

Let me throw out an example to perhaps better convey what I'm looking for ...

Let's say I wanted to replace the nnbs Hybrid hood with an LTZ one ... I would need to know the exact difference in measurements, I would need to know if the latch is the same, I would need to know if the attachment points are the same and in the same place ... semi basic drawings that don't really hold much in the way of company secrets.

Does that make sense?

You will find tons of drawings in these books...the tough part will be to identifying the difference in length, angles, etc.

Shop manual example - you will see everything about your Tahoe's mechanical systems - schematics, each part in detail, mounting areas...but I'm fairly confident you would not know that the mouting pt for a NBS hood is 3" from the inside fender wall while an HD hood mount is 2.5". (just an example, not real numbers) The book would show you where to mount, parts, how to mount, torque settings, etc

Also, a Haynes repair manual, is NOT a SHOP Manual. The repair manuals ($30) are a fraction of the size and cost of a true shop manual ($100+)

Personally, i love working on my cars so I always have one of these handy. I just recently purchased one for my OBS, so I haven't even thumbed through it yet.

He's going to turn his Hyhoe into a machine that James Bond would be proud to motor around in :naughty:

As an engineer, I know I don't release any drawings without a Non-disclosure agreement. Its not top secret, but it can be used to make non-GM replacement parts that would be sold very cheap.

Have you tried just renting one and measuring what you need. I know the Hertz by me has 3 tahoes sitting there. You might even be able to swap hoods without them noticing, not that I recommend that.
