It's to pair the phone to the truck for making calls. You can get one of two CRUX adapters so you can ALSO play music from your phone through the truck while retaining all the original features, including Sirius. I was just reading about them again last night for our new truck but would not consider myself an expert on the subject.
Go to Crutchfield's website and have a look and do some googling and there are youtube videos too.
