Bought the 05 Caddy LQ9 and 4L65E that got posted for sale yesterday on here. Since both will be shipped and out of the truck, the first thing Ill do is pull the heads and have them machined and use new quality gaskets, since thats why Im replacing engines at 140k anyway. Im thinking a cam/springs/pushrods will probably get ordered too...
Anyone have any input on what i should do or replace to the engine and trans prior swap? I hope the trans swap wont require anything. The Caddy was AWD so I dont know what would be different from that and my Z71 4L60.

If I had it torn down that far with heads and whatnot I would think about oil pump ect while I was in there. Also I would prob install a shift kit and a better converter since I already had the trans out. Just a couple of minor things without having to tear completely into it. Plus you will see where everything is at once you open it up. That way you dont spend a ton of time only to have someone elses problem. JMO

Going to need a retune as well. LQ9 has different mapping. But you prob already knew that.

You will need to use your transfer case. take the AWD tc and sell it to get some of your money back. If it doesn't come with the tc, then just bolt yours up with new gaskets and seals.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to send the Heads off? Lufkin is a pretty small town and we dont really have a place to have them machined.

Call texas speed, They can advise you on a cam. Get something naughty!
Definatly swap the lifters and the buckets for ls6 parts.
Same with timing chain or buy a good one from Texas speed.

Either port the oil pump yourself or buy one. Might as well do it the first time.
Pro heads.com will send you a set of cnc ported heads with big valves, for just under 900, when you send your cores.
Look at performance trucks net for a nnbs intake. Pay no more than 250 for a rdy to bolt on setup with throttle body, rails and oem injectors. Then sell the injectors.
Use caddi cts-v injectors with height adapters and plug conversions. Pay no more than 250 for the injectors and adapters
Get them from caddy forum. They will be perfect for your mods and future growth as Fuel injector clinic can mod them for cheap.

Get your headers and y pipe here

You can get a stainless mbrp catback from Performance truck products, based in tomball. For 350ish, use code mbrp15, shipped that will bolt right un to those headers for a complete high flow stainless exhaust from headers back.
So for right at 2k you will have a beast of a engine.

Another setup would be to get the 6.2 aka L92 heads and intake, with the right cam, it will be very close or over 500hp/tq, find them at performance trucks aswell.

Thanks for the Advice.
I found a local place to machine the heads, Im not dishing out the cash for new ones. I already have LT's (just need some GOOD gaskets), Im gonna get the ported oil pump and a new timing chain for sure, Either TXSPEED or Brian Tooley Racing, havent decided just yet.
