2004 GMC Yukon Denali.

Found this posted on another forum:

How about a 2005 Tahoe showing dash lights with traction control diasabled, e brake engaged and display saying "service brake system" "stablility system disabled".. this happenes when the brake pedal is compressed all the way to the floor. Brake is also soft

-GM-Trucks.com

Basically exact same thing happened to me. I'll add I installed a brand new battery about 1 month ago, have only driven a handful since.

Drove last night first time in about 2 weeks. Was a whining noise that got louder as I accelerated until a certain speed then leveled out. Would happen just about every time I accelerated from stop. I assumed its something that will work itself out from sitting so much the past month.

When braking, pedal went soft and all the lights and warnings came on. Pedal returns but is still soft. Limped home slowly and heard a light knocking, I think from the rear.

Been battling the passlock 2 nightmare the past year, now this. Anyone want a $10k driveway ornament?

Any experience with these symptoms or thoughts please advise, thank you.

Hydro boost or vacuum? You shouldn't be able to push the pedal all the way to the floor.
I would start checking your rubber lines for wear and cracking/leaking. when was the last time you flushed your brake system?
you say your hear a whining noise, have you checked your power steering fluid level?

Thank you guys.

Figured it out yesterday after posting. Knocking noise i believe was one of the piston came out of the caliper far enough that it was loose and had wobble. There was no brake pad at all on the inside of the caliper. Im guessing it just snapped and the whole thing disappeared.

Never had any braking problems or braking noises in the 2 years ive had the truck.

Think the whining noise is a pulley now, its not the power steering though.

Took it for a test drive after bleeding everything is ok, also the tc light and parking brake light went out while pumping the brakes abd setting the pistons.

Dropped my wedding ring in the driveway though in a pile of leaves2 hours looking in the dark and nothing. Looking again today.

These engines had some problems with serp belt tensioners and idler pulleys making noise. So I guess you had 2 problems and now the brakes are finished. I had same noise on my 02. Replaced the serp belts with Goodyear Gatorback belts and AC Delco (2) tensioners and (1) idler pulley. Noise gone. That is not saying for sure that is your problem. A little bit more info would be great. What really helps me find under the hood noises is a mechanic's stethoscope.
