My damn tires have been making a screeching sound. Brought to the dealer to check my breaks and they said they still have a lot of life. But the noise of when I drive slow or braking is bothering me. So I am going to change my break pads and rotor; wanted to know what were good pads and rotors to change too. A friend keeps telling me to go on e bay and buy this set.

Consider changing your brakes when you're changing your breaks. ;)

Too subtle? Ok, how about this... YOU SPELLED "BRAKE" WRONG. :)

Just trying to help in a small way since I couldn't help with your actual brake question. That, and I was giving your post a "bump."

Anyway, I think you need to determine whether it's your tires squealing at slow, parking lot speeds (like most of our tires do), your brakes squealing because they're down to the warning strip, or your brakes squealing because you've glazed the rotors. Otherwise, you could be changing your brakes out for no good reason.

I do like R1 slotted and drilled rotors. Better breaking from cooler brakes ftmfw.

Something else to think about though. It is normal for brakes to squeak. It its one metal surface rubbing on another metal surface. That is why cheap pads squeak. However, companies, such as Wagner, offer a pad they guarantee won't squeak because of the chamfered edges. When you do your brakes, I recommend getting Wagner Thermoquiet pads. They are also suppose to be low dust. Those pads and drilled and slotted rotors should fix the squealing problem. If you are on a budget, start with the pads and give your rotors a good cleaning with Brake Kleen. This first step should run about $60 per axle.
