I have a 2001 suburban 1500 LT autoride, I to have been getting the ABS light on the dash. I replaced both front hub assemblies. Still got the light. I took it to a friend, who was a machanic for a dealer. He hooked it up to a machine and informed me that the brake light switch under the dash is bad and needs to be replaced. He said that the bad brake light switch can cause the ABS light on the dash. I don't know but I thought i would throw this out there.

Was it just the ABS light, or was it both the ABS and the Emergency Brake light?

It was just the abs light.... I have yet to replace the blake light switch. I'm personally leaning toward bad sensors. The hub bearings seem to be fine. No noise or vibration. However, when ever i go over a bump if the light is not on it will flicker on and go out or it will just stay on.

Well I finally got my codes checked at a dealer and it came back with code 0265 (high resistance fault). We cleaned the terminal plug and got it to clear but it came back on, later today I will check the ground connection. Im hoping its not a internal fault in the EBCM but I will see what happens after cleaning more connections.

Well after alot of investigation of the C0265 abs fault code I was able to identify that the EBCM was the problem. autoecu.com fixed the module for $50 off a ebay sale with free shipping. They offer a lifetime warranty for their work. I took the module off, sent it to them and returned it within 5 business days. I reinstalled the module using stainless steel allen head bolts. Also I had to drive the truck down the road to get the code to clear. Overall I was able to identify the problem using help from this site and get it fixed. Thanks!!!

Same aggravation!!!

Same aggravating problem as a couple of previous posters.

After a few minutes of driving, the ABS and brake warning lights come on, along with that aggravating chime dinging 32 times!! What a PITA!! No apparent change in brake performance.

From what I've gathered from the posts is you need to retreive the ABS codes to vetify if it is the control module. If so, the ABSFIXER is the go-to guy, definitely NOT the dealer!

Any other things to verify in addition to the module?

Thanks! Glad that I found this site, I have two of these trucks and would like to keep running them.

This guy is also waiting to see if anyone agrees with his assumption. I also can't take death by chimming with these lights.

Process:
Get codes
Confirm or deny EBCM
Remove and replace or repair
Lights, sounds dissapear

I had an 01 Tahoe that had this same problem. They only thing that fixed it was to replace the EBCM, however I went to Mieneke locally and got one from a salvage supply with really low miles and never had the problem again. Sold it about a year later to a friend who has never had a problem either. It only cost me $280 including parts and labor. I was told a new one aftermarket is about $380 plus labor.
I NEVER EVER EVER go to the stealership. Bunch of god dammed thieves in every sense of the way!

Almost forgot; these guys will repair them.

If I remember right it' about $150 to repair, they seem legit, maybe someone can chime in.

theres a place you can send them to and have rebuilt for $100

Just did this using gaugerepairman on ebay. Sent module out on Monday and I had the repaired unit back on Thursday. . $65 and lifetime guarantee. .my abs and brake lights went off as soon as I started the truck.. I also had the constant abs pump on which meant the relay was shot in the EBCM also..
