This is more of a general question but my 2003 yukon has the same situation so I figure I’ll ask it here. When replacing component speakers, do you need to buy a crossover or is it built in? I’m getting new speakers for my buddies rig and he wants to replace all of his stock speakers and it has door speakers and tweeters. If I buy properly matched mids and tweeters will I be able to wire it right in or do I need to buy a crossover?

the stock crossover on these trucks consists of a small inline filter/capacitor which is usually either mounted right to the back of the stock tweeter or very close to it, if your going to replace the tweeters then yes I would recommend getting a crossover, usually a component set is used when replacing, the infinity kappa series are a good replacement, durable and sound great.
