I wouldn't. Don't know how wd would act. Make it oily and worst case take the paint right off. Slicone best best. To really get in between, use a detailing brush. Thats what the guys in the detailing department do.
Soda could make it stick even worse when it dries up.

That's why I recommended the dielectric spray. WD40 can conduct electricity. I've used it on door switches in the past with success.

Hey Guys,

Got a problem. The old unit had the lights replaced in it and the guy that did it said he would fix the buttons for free, so I mailed it off - was going to keep it as a spare and use the Amazon unit.

Here is the issue: I got the one from Amazon today and I installed it in my truck. I turned it on and it seemed to work, then I noticed when I turned on the A/C it only blew hot on the passenger side! I played with it, and even removed the HVAC fuse and reset the system - no luck! It blows hot on the passenger side no matter how I turn the knob. IS the new unit bad? If so, that is even more reason to return it and install my old one. Or does this problem sound deeper?

It was sealed up in a delco box, looks new to me. It had all the wrapping on it and everything. I went through several "reset" procedures on the web and I have it "sort of" working. It finally blew cool air, then actual a/c air. I guess what I am asking...is this normal behavior? Or do you guys think I have a bad unit on my hands? I can return it, but I almost hate to take it out because it actually works, or seems to work now lol. Any advice is appreciated. I could always test my old one when I get it back I suppose, but again, I hate to take the "sort of" "seems to work" one out.

If it was me I'd return it and get my money back then spend it elsewhere on the vehicle. I really can't think of many reasons to have a backup AC controller. Especially since you're already paying to have yours 'fixed.'

Good that your new one finally started working. Hopefully it's not a sign you have an actuator going out.

@MrBalll I concur, I think I will it back as soon as my old one comes in. So if it is an actuator, is that a big deal to replace?

Oh no. It's a very simple and straightforward install. Couple of screws and a few bolts and you're good.

I am not so sure this going in the right direction, first of all, you should never spray any kind of solvent on the plastic control panel. As was mentioned earlier it could cause more damage. In my experience as a GM tech the most common cause of sticky buttons is sticky Coke, Mountain Dew or whatever nondiet drink got cracked open and sprayed or spilled onto the control panel. I think a beer is not sticky enough to do it, (I may be wrong). The best thing to clean the mess is a little water, either sprayed carefully onto the control panel and vacuumed out CAREFULLY or disassemble the panel and carefully clean with clear water. As for the problem with the replacement panel, being the automatic version, it may need to be programmed. Check with the dealer. Good luck
