So all was good with my Yukon and last weekend as I'm loading the back up from camping I have my daughter watching a movie in the middle row. Grabbing camp chairs and I hear the engine Rev up and see that she's scaled to the drivers floorboard playing with pedals. After a very harsh scalding she's locked into her car seat and I think all Is well. Turn the truck back on pull out the site and lights all over my dash. Service stabilitrac service traction control and my abs light.

Got home unplugged the battery for a couple hours thinking she may have just tripped a weird sensor. Plug battery back up no lights. Back it down the drive way still all good. Put it in drive and move about 6 feet and their back.

Every time I turn it off they go away. I can drive in reverse and still no lights. As soon as it goes in drive and moves a couple feet their back.

Took it to the shop yesterday and he said he was gonna have to re place the yaw rate sensor. Called back saying it was done go pick it up and he informs me all he had to do was relearn the sensor multiple times and it went away. He insisted he drove it for 5 miles and it didn't come back. Good news right. I pay him hop in drive 3 feet and the lights are back on. Anyone struggled with this before?

Jon did you ever get this issue fixed?
unless you know the steering wheel position sensor is what is triggering your stabilitrac/abs issue then you need a tech2 or snap-on, etc scanner to see what is the root cause, could be a bad wheel hub, could be a bad abs sensor, if you have mrc shocks and height sensors could be one of those as well, it's kind of a guessing game without a proper scanner that can read the bcm codes a off the shelf code scanner won't do it.

I am currently battling an issue with the steering wheel position sensor!! I got a C0710 code about 30 seconds from leaving the alignment shop! I was told the scanner they use doesn't have the ability to re-learn SWP sensors?? I called it BS, i know most Snap on brands can read and clear and re-learn SWP Sensors! Had the code cleared at another shop, only to have it come back 5 miles down the road. I linked the video showing Snap on scanner

Come to find out the OEM part is a 6 pin sensor... which has been discontinued! There are sensors still being made which are 8 pin, according to EVERY dealer in Dallas they are not backwards compatible? So the dealer said they could replace my steering column they pulled from another SUV similar to mine, for a small fee of 859.00. For something that I didn't cause myself, I don't think so.

So now at this point I am exploring the idea of using an 8 pin sensor, I have heard on various forums that despite the internet saying they are not compatible, they actually are. We will soon see.

The dealer can’t help you here. Rockauto sells the correct sensor for your truck. It’s made by standard motor products. I put one in my ‘07 in the spring. I’d rather have OEM but this one works. Careful with the install procedure though or take it to a shop that knows what they’re doing.
