Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2005 Yukon SLT with single cd player/cassette and DVD player in ceiling. I have searched the internet and the threads here, but have been unable to come up with a clear description of what type of stereo systems work as a replacement to the stock system in a GMC Yukon.

My current system has volume and seek on the steering wheel and I would like to keep that function. It also has audio controls on the back of the center console for the back seat passengers. The rear controls have audio plugs that can tune in the dvd player and I don't want to lose that function.

Is there anything available to upgrade the system, yet keep all of the same sound control functionality that the original system has?

Any advice, links, and or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You can keep the steering wheel functionality with most any head unit which has the steering wheel controls option you just need to have the adapter
As far as the rear controls Im not sure about how you would go about that since I dont have the DVD option and never really have people in the back seat that care about the audio controls.

Are you looking to do double din or what??

Why do you want to change it? I think thAt if you can find what wires go up there and what they connect on to then you can just splice them into the new radios harness

Double Din?

Thanks for the fast replies! I don't think I need to keep the unit the same size. :)

The cd player works, but the insert and eject mechanism is jamming up. I thought it would be nice to put in something that is more up to date with ipod, usb plug, and maybe even bluetooth compatible.

I like the back seat controls for the dvd player because of the wired headphone plugs. I guess I could locate the wired connection and splice into it or just go totally wireless with the headsets.

I was hoping for an easy upgrade/replacement.

My idea, when I get the money, is to take those input A/V plugs on the front of the DVD player and tuck them up inside, hook the HU output to those A/V inputs and then whatever I play on the HU plays in the back. Just an idea if you don't get anything else.
