Hey guys, I have a 2006 Tahoe Z71 with the 5.3L and I thought my cam position sensor was leaking oil. So I pulled it out to get a new o-ring and put it back in and it threw a code(P0343 camshaft position sensor A circuit high voltage) I had also cleaned it of with some brake/parts cleaner and had thought maybe I had ruined it and bought a new one. Well I installed the new one and it threw another code(P0342 camshaft position sensor A circuit low voltage). Well I had another thought that maybe the connector had gotten brittle from the heat so I replaced that also and well as you can only guess is yes it still threw the low voltage code.
I checked the voltage to the sensor and it showed about 8v on my analoge meter on 50DC setting and when I checked it on the 10DC it pegged at 10v. So I another thought was to put the old sensor back in and it still read P0343 high voltage so I reinstalled the new one and it still reads P0342 low voltage. The only issue it gives me is it's hard to start but makes it a little easier to start after I clear the codes.
So I am at a lose. I had an option to go into an auto hobby shop that has diagnostic computers but they were closed today and have to work tomorrow and am looking for anybody that may have an idea of what may be the issue?
