can someone explain to me flex fuel

i was changing my fuel filter and i origianlly purchased the wrong one, it turns out i needed the flex fuel filter, but in Canada we do not have flex fuel that i know of, is this a common thing with our kons and hoes or did i just luck out and got an odd ball with a filter that costs 3 times as much

Flex fuel means your Yukon can run on pump gas or corn based fuel called E85.
