I have been getting things together to continue my build on my 04 Escalade AWD. I'll be running a smallish cam, 224R at 112 most likely, long tubes with a catless X pipe, cold air intake, E fans, stall around 3k and obviously a tune. I read everyone saying get rid of the 4l60 and go with an 80, I wouldn't mind going that route but I really need to keep my AWD and it looks like that will be pretty difficult and even priceyer. Now my question is can the 65e that I have in my truck now be built to hold that kind of power? I had a 4l60e with a shift kit and 3600 stall in an F-body that held up for years with no problems at all, I get that the F body is lighter but I flat out abused that car and it never missed a beat. Now keep in mind this truck is my daily driver for the most part, it will not be abused, it wont see regular track time. Its just a daily drivable truck that I'd like to put more power in for the rare blasts every now and then, I don't plan on doing any crazy AWD launches from a dead stop. Any suggestions?

It will not hold.

It's not any harder installing a 80 to a AWD as it is to a 4x4. It's the exact same install.
There is nothing hard about installing a 80, it's just a matter of getting all of the parts before the install begins.
Then it's literaly plug and play, minus the retune for the 80 and that's even easy as the tune parameters are plastered all over hptuners and efilive's forums.

Do more research and realize out of the tens of thousands of 80 swaps, very very few actually run into problems and 99% of the time it's because they cut corners or didn't get correct parts the first time due to bad research.

Heck, thers a how too sticky on pretty much every performance forum on the net.

Your already beyone the 60's capabilities. Holding 400hp in a 3000# fbody is nothing compared to holding 400 in a 6000# suv.

GL on your swap.

From what I have found it my searches it seems like I would have to change out my transfer case to a 2wd/4wd unit. If I can keep my transfer case then I'd be ok with swapping the 80e in. Am I incorrect in thinking my current transfer case wont work?
