Can the nav screen background be changed?

When turned off, that solid blue screen with only the time displayed is hideous. Is there a way to change it?

It would be great if it would at least display the screen that comes up when the system is loading right after the truck is started. On my 07 denali, it shows the GMC logo and some other graphics like steel. I dont know what it looks like on the tahoes but I know its the same system.

Advice anyone?

Yes, the time display on the blue screen takes the definition of "ugly" to a whole new level! :emotions122:

General Motors must have put out a programming request to the lowest bidder, and then stiffed the programmer when it came time to making the final payment. Not only is the time not centered on the display, but it doesn't even show the seconds in a minute. You'd think General Motors would have put in a nice, very large, classic watch display with the second hand clicking every second to the next position, and let the user pick a background screen color. Geez, the stupidity level car companies exhibit on what should be common-sense decisions is just stunning.

agree 100%

remember though GM hires engineers and bean counters from the lowest level available on the market, since any good engineer or bean counter would have to be very hard up to want to work for GM........

Carolina Boy,

Unfortunately, I do not see a way to change the background when the navigation system is off.

Thank you,

Elizabeth, GM Customer Service

Thanks Elizabeth.

GM has obviously been dealing with some serious set backs and I have no doubt the above statements are true or at least along the lines of correct so I cant say I don't understand. Its just a shame to see/own a vehicle as nice as the denali, or any of the other top of the line gm models, with such a poorly designed interface. Its like wearing a fine italian made suite with sandals on.

The last ten cars Ive owned have all had nav/touch screens, 4 of which have been GM's (see sig below- the bottom three are currently in my garage and all have nav). All but two of the ten touchscreens have been oe, often serving as the controls for much more than the nav and stereo, and the denali's is without question the worst.

Of the three GM vehicles I currently own, I would rate the nav/touch screen units in the following order from best to worst: caddy cts-v, vette, denali. I actually replaced the factory unit in the vette with a kenwood....eon's ahead.

GM would greatly benefit from taking some design courses from the germans and the ****. Dont mean to vent but thats my $.02 which I believe I've earned the right to contribute considering my brand loyalty ;)

Even using a "time" request from a DOS command prompt from the 1980s on a primitive computer would show the seconds. And you could change the colors, too. But, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, GM in 2011 can't even catch up to the 1980s. Geez, two thumbs down and two middle fingers up!

If mine didn't have the hybrid display feature (which I couldn't care less about but the next owner might) I'd have taken that nav off within a week, sold it, and replaced it with something functional, or at least something that has more features and technology than that of a Commodore 64.

There, I feel better.

What was the question again?

Take some notes from Ford. My sister just got in a new edge. That sync system is incredible. Get it on it GM.
