I'm trying to swap the pads out. So far I've completely removed the upper and lower slide pins but I can't get the caliper to slide off all the way.

I've tried to pry in between the rotor and caliper with a prybar and it's not budging.

Is there a lip around the perimeter of the rotor? If the piston isn't retracting, the pads could be catching the lip. Try to push the inner pad off of the rotor. Also, the caliper usually needs to come straight up out of the abutment bracket rather than one side first then the other, etc. If the piston is keeping the pads clamped to the rotor, you might need a new caliper and/or hose(s).

You might need to use a large c-clamp or a caliper compression tool to push the piston back in far enough to lift the caliper off. Watch your fluid level in the master cylinder as you will be pushing it back into the reservoir and it could overflow.
prying doesn’t usually work well, put the screw of the clamp on the pad where you can see it and the top of the clamp behind the caliper and tighten. After the piston retracts, take the clamp off and caliper should come off (if you have removed the caliper retaining bolt as mentioned above).

Well it worked. Thanks. I'm still a little suspicious I had to go this far to get it off however.
I was thinking 07 plus brakes which are slightly different, but ya once you unbolt the bracket you can get the whole rotor and everything off and/or eveything is much looser and it makes it easier

when I want to just change the pads I unbolt the caliper bracket and slide everything off, take off the old pads, push the caliper back flush, install the new pads and slide it back on the rotor and bolt it back up

Might be time to replace that caliper too. Should not be that difficult to remove. Check your slide pins too.
