Car Audio problem.?

Got two radios and a CD changer. All three items by VDO. The radios are a CD 721 and a CR 441X, and the cd changer is a CDC 026. The changer connects to either radio with the cable supplied, the cd magazine dissapears into the box (yes I have put the CDs the way up that manual says) , and there is is some clicking and whirring. Both radios say no CDC present and there is no playback. Where have I gone wrong, or are they all totally imcompatible ? The car is a Kia Carens, and the CR441X is the original radio. Anyone out there with any helpful advice or suggestions.

first i would make sure the cd changer is working make sure you check at the changer itself. if it has same plugs then it should be compatable
