My carpet is shot and it's time to change it out on the 2006 Tahoe. I will be doing this project myself. I already have the T50 Torx bit for the rear tie downs and the E14 driver for the front seat bolts.

OEM color is pewter. There are some dark grey and black accents, but it is mostly just pewter/light grey.

I was thinking of going with black or charcoal color to pick up the small accents, throw in a bit of contrast to the light color scheme and to not show the dirt so much. Floor mats would be changed out to black at the same time. Interested in what you guys have to say. Thanks.

Here's a couple pics.

My black carpet in my truck shows just as much trash/dirt as the light grey in the hoe

Thx for that info. Maybe I meet in the middle and do a charcoal or a darker grey just to change it up.

I did mine in my '02 Denali and almost forgot about the 2nd row seats that have carpet on them and I decided to match it so when they're folded (which is most of the time for my dog) everything matches. Also, the bottom of my front door panels are carpeted and I ordered extra carpet and covered those. Oh, the sides of my console also are carpeted with the same as the 2nd row seats. I ordered free samples from stockinteriors.com. Their carpet kit fit perfect. I do have to say that stock carpet always looked dirty due to the way it was manufactured- just the way it would lay over. The new stuff looks very nice no matter how the nap is brushed. Oh one more thing- their floor mats that match really finish off the look.

Points well taken @Red Rocket

Yeah the 2nd row seats are carpeted as well as the center console. You might have just swayed me to keep the OEM color to keep it all the same with waht is already carpeted. Worth waiting my time to order for sure. My door bottoms are not carpeted.

stockinteriors.com is who I will be ordering from. Samples were ordered. Good to hear about the fitment of the kit. Those floor mats do look really nice as well.

How well is the rubber backing/nibs on the back working to hold them in place?

Did you get the mass backing?

What color from stockinteriors.com did you order? Looks like your OEM color is pewter/light grey like mine. I think that matches #8075 Medium Grey in their samples list for the plush cut pile carpet.

Thx for the feedback.

The mats stay in place real good and without those stupid hooks that the others make you screw into the carpet. I did get the mass backing and if you do, you'll need a good pair of tin snips or shears to cut it. Scissors are no match. Take your time especially around the cutouts for the 3rd row seats. The stock color for the pewter interiors like ours is in between 8075 Medium Grey and 8078 Dark Grey. I went with 8078 just to hide the dirt a bit better.
