catalytic converter question

I

My truck has the california emmission system in it But i live in Nj. Can i put a non cali emmission catalytic converter in? Will it pass nj inspection? Will it harm the truck or throw codes? Thanks for the help

I would contact the NJ inspection. I'm not sure what is involved in CA emissions on these trucks, but I know that magnaflow makes a CA compliant converter system. From what research I have done, Magnaflow makes the best direct fit system out there. There are people who have had problems with them, but I have been pleased. I do have a little heat shield rattle which is pretty common.
