Use anything but Dorman, if you can.
Sure, but not sure how to find something else. I'll look again on RockAuto.
Other "makers" on RA listed: Rostra, WVE, SMP. I can't help thinking all these come off the same assembly line and/or use the same plastic/contacts tooling. I don't think the industry can support making three or four sets of plastic tooling. I could be wrong. I'll ask my mechanic where I should buy the part. I wonder if the dealer has a replacement part even if not officially GM.

I put in a new switch and cleared the codes. I'll drive it a bit and see what shows. up.
Be aware that you should have aligned the gear teeth of the new one to the same place as the old one. BUT, if the old one was a tooth off, you may be installing a new switch with the wrong gear alignment. That happened to me on my girl's 2002 TrailBlazer. Luckily, I figured it out. IIRC, the gear alignment can have the fat spot showing and still intermittently start just fine but every now and then will not crank the engine unless you really roll the key. IIRC the fat spot should be hidden when all teeth are in alignment.

If needed, I can send you a link of a you tube that shows what I am talking about.

Yes, I have the gear alignment issue. I finally got a spot that sort of works. The start position barely works. I was moving things back and forth maybe one tooth at a time and was having issues. E.g. couldn't find an off position where the radio would not go on. This is tricky because the radio will work when you turn the motor off - then you have to open the door to stop the radio from working. Something like that.

There must be some type of cool process to find the right alignment if you lose what you had when taking out the existing switch.

Your radio is working correctly. Should stay on till open door or times out at about 10-15 minutes.

Okay that helps.
I think if I have the radio on while engine is running...
Then turn key to off everything should go off except the radio.
If I open and close the door the radio will go off. ? Right.

Yes, that's called RAP. Retained Accessory Power. Look it up in your owner's manual.
