Center Dash Console MOD

I've seen a few older posts regarding replacement of the cassette deck on pre '03 models. All that I've seen, show nothing more than a puny looking storage bin to fit the hole the deck leaves after removal. I haven't pulled the console but looking at the console, it looks appears that the face plate is nothing more than an insert that trims out for the cassette deck and has the lower storage compartment. Does anyone know if there are replacement inserts to replace the entire piece. I'd just as soon have the whole space an open bin. I'd think someones figured out something with a power outlet or reuse of the cassette deck connections. Just looks like a waste of space the way it's set up. I'm starting to look for options but not getting much, any direction on who or where to look is appreciated.

I went through this with my 2001 Tahoe years ago when I still had it... I didn't have any luck finding a direct fit replacement if removing the cassette player.

I just eventually learned to live with it and after a while I forgot it was even there....
