To these found on the LTs and LTZs:

I know that they just come out with a few nuts when you take off the stock faceplate but was just wondering if it is just a faceplate that can be interchanged plug and play.

I dont think its as plug and play as you think. Its completly different infact. It would require alot of modifying.

Oh, well last time I checked somebody on TF did it easily after buying one because he hated his knob style one....maybe I'm wrong though!

Try gmpartsdirect.com:

-> Tahoe
-> Instrument panel
-> Cluster and switches
-> Heater control
-> w/auto temp control

Enter that in your cart, and you should get a part number on it. Then you can verify that the part is what you're looking for. If you send them an email with that part number and your VIN, they should be able to tell you if it'll work (I went through a couple emails with them to verify some cross rails with Escalade racks)...

Found a diagram under "instrument cluster," and item #12 does, in fact, appear to be what you're looking for. Don't know if it's plug and play or not.

I think I read some where that it is not plug and play and once you do manage to get it installed the BCM has to be programed

It is NOT plug 'n' play. there is a lot of work involved in changing it out.
