Chip Question???

Ok guys, I was told I have a chip in my '03 Tahoe and was wondering other than performance wise how can I tell or find it if there is one? Where do I look? It runs like a scalded ape and when I first got it I ran beside a Cadillac STS at a stoplight and pulled away until about 80mph, then he started catching me!!! I kinda tend to believe there is a chip installed somewhere cuz it is faster than stock, crisp throttle response, great off the line power and my gas mileage totally sucks, lol. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Frank!!!

Most performance "chips" for these vehicles aren't chips at all - they are handheld tuners that hook up to your OBDII port. They recalibrate your stock PCM and are disconnected when the recalibration is complete. There are usually no physical pieces of equipment left in place when the process is finished. You need to talk to whoever you bought it from to find out more information.

scary question, and I know not legal on city street (so test at a track ) will it go over 100 MPH, good way to see if it's been modded.

Thats true. Speed limiter is set at 98 from the factory.

yes, 03 will shut off before 100 MPH.

So, I tested that theory out today on the freeway, it "might" have hit 105 and "might" have had more where that came from!! I wonder what that "might" mean? Interesting!!!!
