When cold...spray some water on the belt and it immediately stops. Just what makes a serpentine belt chirp/squeal???

a number of things can make it squeal or chirp , Age , brand , dry rotted ect…

If you buy a cheap belt they will squeak . you don't have to go all out and buy a gatorback or w.e there called but a good ACdelco will be good. I normally tell people to make sure its the belt squalling , Some times a Pully that has lost its greasing ability can make one think its the belt.
I believe there is a silicone grease spray you can buy but I can't vouch for how well it works I normally just buy a new belt and be done with it .
