I have a 2002 Escalade with the electric climate control panel for the front passengers which I really like,

but since I also have a sunroof, I have the very simplistic manual controller in the overhead for the rear passengers.

I would really like to have the rear climate controller for the front that comes standard on the SUV's without sunroofs, that has the AUTO position that makes the rear mimic what is set on the front passenger climate control panel.
like this

Does anyone know if this is a plug and play swap? I'm not really interested in adding the rear controls for the rear seat passengers as it will be many years before my kid could reach them, but the ability to make the rear heat/ac mimic what the front is set to would be key.
Thanks.

The "auto" feature is your problem and won't work. You're going from a manual adjustment to an automatic adjustment. You'd basically look like rewiring most of your truck including all interior A/C stuff to get the auto to work. And you can't just slap that controller in there and not use the auto function, it simply won't work because you don't have the "computer climate control", you have the manual

But I have the computer climate control for the front, so all the sensors and stuff should already be in the truck....

I guess I'll just have to be the guinea pig and try it out.

It will NOT work. The plugs are completely different. But what you can do is get an escalade panel from one without a sunroof. And pop the knobs and faceplate off and swap it with yours. It will then match your dash panel, but you won't be able to use the auto feature.

Did you ever plug in the overhead auto climate control unit? Did it work?
