I was looking into buying a custom ground cam and springs for my 2009 Tahoe LTZ and still keeping the DOD. Anyone done this as of yet? I did a search and didn't find much.

Yea, its been done, but most just do a DoD delete while they have the motor apart since it doesnt do much in terms of mileage.

yes ive done a few cam swaps on DoD cars you have to change out the lifters and valley pan . And diff cam sprocket . pretty common cam conversion now . Comp is trying to design a cam that will still work with the DOD but it has not been released . DOD really isnt to much of a gain , I usually tune it out due to when you have a diff muffler it sounds like crap.

O ya hello everyone just started lurking on here I bought my wife a 09 Hoe and already put 24s on it and have a few boxes of things to add to it once it all comes in . I do the stuff on the side for a lil extra cash so if anyone has any questions about the swaps lemme know I will try and explain the best way as possible

I tried calling Comp Cams. They really were not helpful. I then called Texas Speed. They sent me the numbers on what I need. I'm deleting the DOD and re-tuning after. Should be good for some mild increases.

I may do this for now, $1300, then add better flowing cats and exhaust latter. I would love a SC but just don't want to put that much money into it.

You'll like the gains you see. A buddy of mine put a 228 cam in his G8 and he picked up about 40 rwhp and almost 1.5 mpg on the highway. City mileage stayed the same.

also keep in mind that the 5.3 doesnt need a big cam for an off the shelf cam I recommend not going higher than a 223 cam ... Alot of people go to big of a cam on these motors and wonder why they dont run as good... Maybe something like around a 221/223 .56x/.57x 113+1 lsa .... but hey to each their own ;)
