Does anyone have any experience with the comp cams XR275HR cam in a 5.3L?

This is what Comp Cams recommended for me with a Yank Truck Thruster 2600 converter and new springs and push rods. I've found a few videos of a 5.3 with that cam and it sounds nasty. Just wondering if anyone has had an experience with the cam, good or bad, and if there is a better choice.

FYI...My 5.3 is completely stock on the inside. Just CAI, Corsa Sport CBE and BBP 93 Octane tune.

I looked around on performance trucks.net and found this.

http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/gm-engine-exhaust-performance-21/comp-xr275hr-416326/

I hope it helps.

I read through the thread and it looks like he's pretty happy with the cam in his short bed half ton pickup but with the extra weight I was wanting some first hand experience from someone running it in a Tahoe since it's so much heavier.

Justin with BB seems to think this is a great cam as long as I get a higher stall converter. I just don't want to get in over my head with this deal and if somebody has already been there and done that I'd like to utilize the experience instead of finding out the hard way.

Personally I think it's a good choice. According to what I've read, with the stock intake and exhaust manifolds I shouldn't loose too much low end torque and the power band should be strong through 6,000 or maybe a little above.

I'm looking at the Yank Truck Thruster 2600 because that's what I've found specifically for truck appllications. I know exactly jack shit about converters so if you guys have any input there I'd be happy to hear it.

I may be way off base on all of this so PLEASE set me straight if that's the case! I'm totally open to other suggestions and any feedback I can get.

Something else I'm curious about. At 70 MPH i'm running right at 2000 rpm. I've heard that you don't want to get a converter that has a stall above your cruising speed at 65. Is that true for locking converters as well?
