This message keeps popping up on the infotainment screen and is driving me nuts. I have no password to give it and hitting the “do not remind me” or the little X only makes it go away for a short amount of time. It constantly pops up and you have to close it if you want to do anything else on the screen. It’s super annoying and I don’t know how to make it go away. I don’t pay for any connected services and I’m not even really sure what those areE882DE35-484C-427F-A92F-80F98DC61318.jpeg

As I have said many times here, "I love my 2005 Z71 Tahoe more and more every day".

I deal with this pop up crap every day on my laptop.

Yeah the older simpler vehicles definitely have an appeal. My favorite gm trucks and suvs are the obs years from 88-98 but a suburban from that era just won’t fly for mommas ride. This new one is pretty sweet but I could do without all the tech crap it has

I called Onstar to inform them I want a total disconnect from their services. I did not want or give permission to track anything on my truck and did not want their emails which confirm everytime I change a setting which confirms the fact that they are tracking everything my truck does...........so after 30 minutes on the phone with them, supposedly its done...................Now everytime I start my truck it tells me I am not connected to onstar to call them!!!!!!!!!! Nothing I do in settings stops this...every start I have to X it out..........so annoying. So they are winning........

Do you REALLY think they will do this?
What are they going to learn? That I go to 7-11 everyday or sometimes when no one is at a 4 way that I don't use my turn signal?

Mine started that a few days ago. I just re-entered my password.
I don’t have a password to enter though. I tried the only one I thought it might be but no go. I don’t see an option to set a new one either

Dont want to have a "tin foil hat" conversations about onstar or cell phones or what anyone would find out, I do not subscribe to ideology of "if your not doing anything wrong" what can they find out? That is an ignorant and naive way to think. It is privacy and they monetize and do use your info against you and for themselves. Do you leave your front do open and allow others to look around? Do you leave your safe open, car open, filing cabinet with personal papers??? Would you want a stranger listening to a personal conversation in your bedroon with your wife?// Its no big deal what are they going to hear??? Your not doing anything wrong>. Thats not the point....its your info and your privacy.

You do know that the black box in you truck records YOUR data when you have an accident?? So if you were 5 mph over the speed limit....which is speeding....you feel that info...which is YOURS...should be downloaded without a warrant and used against you???? As it is and will be, and has become normal for insurance companies and law enforcement. This is done at the body shop while your home or in the hospital. Kinda messes up any defense you and your lawyer may have to entertain? What if there is a death or millions in judgement?? It is now proven you were speeding...so attitudes are your guilty and wrong. Are you that righteous that you will step up and say well i was wrong I will just pay ?? I'll sign my house over? So no, I and many are doing nothing wrong....but my info is my info..for me. Not for law enforcement or a corporation. So not using that turn signal and it being proven...may really come back to bite you. For the same reason you dont speak to law enforcement without a lawyer...you dont give your info away as it may be used against you.

I am not going to school you on what they will learn. I actually know what info "can" be pulled. You would be shocked. Google, Onstar and cell phones are not your friends...they are tools. They are also a great convenience in our lives. A service we can enjoy. But there is another side to it. I am sure you are much more private in your life than you letting on that evryone can know your daily routine, because your doing nothing wrong. If I asked you a personal question...your response would probably be, thats none of your business! As it should be!! AND THATS THE POINT.
I had 20 years in law enforcement (retired) and have close to 100 Onstar warrants, part of which allows us to listen in your truck as you talk on your phone and with your wife inside you personal space. Yes, these people required that attention, but not everyone that entered that truck was a criminal, and not everyone that criminal speaks to is a criminal. They are innocent Americans with rights. Yet, I am listening to it. Yes speed and a breadtrail. But can get that anywhere when your an ivestgator. Credit cards, phones, toll passes, traffic cameras, plate readers. Being an investigator is alot easier today than 20 years ago.
I doubt LE will ever being listening to you or I....Just understand Onstar can. All of you data is stored....and not for your purposes. But your insurance company or GM can use it.....against you --not for you. Again its YOUR information. Its a very slippery slope. Being that the info is there and stored..........do you think its a big stretch for insurance companies to buy that info?? Progressive insurance, Allstate have devices where you voluntarily plug in a device which reports to THEM how your driving for a discount!!!! People actually give away their privacy and driving habits to a corporation! Insane. They know how you brake, how fast, and how many miles yor driving..................I have had 2 stupid friends who told me they were very safe drivers and didnt care and participated in this discount..............both had their insurnace go UP!!!!

Corporations dont work for you. You dont have rights with them. You have an agreement. You are the product for them. They give you a service thats you like or that serves you. It has a price, and its not just that subscripition price. Why do you think all those apps on your phone are free????...because YOU are the product...and it benfits them.

I am sure you have a subscription to Onstar and and gives you peace. Enjoy it. There is another side to it. As there is with many modern toys today especially apps and our phones. We all agree to give up something to get something in this modern world. But you can not agree and accept all of it. I limit it an every point I can.

Yes, I have location services off on my phone, I lock my front door and my personal papers are in a safe with a lock. I am literally doing nothing wrong........for me and many others...its ONLY about privacy, and not wanting to be monetized or penalized by a corporation.........that I voluntarily gave info to. No one is an alter boy (well I was) LOL ---but I'm sure I violate some traffic law here and there.......
It gets a bit old on how some who dont care about their privacy or even realize they are working against them selves, and being monetized and monitored are so worried about people who do not agree with them...and immediatly always have the same naive comment "if your not doing anything wrong" and also disrespect a someone who appreciates their privacy.

I am not saying you personally are saying any of these things or making that assumption. But these responses come up quite often about Onstar specifically....and its usually from people who subscribe to it and are oblivious to the entire deal.

Also find it creepy that when I change a setting in my personal truck that i get an email from Gm and OnStar just letting me know they are monitoring. I dont think its "cool" that they tell you we are watching your truck and it needs service would you like an appointment. I'm not a millennial or teenager. can't wait till the day when i change my oil and forget to reset the oil life monitor and have a warranty...and they tell me lack of maintenance......the whole thing is a rabbit hole

Not everyone agrees and accepts to the terms on all apps. And not everyone believes Onstar has their best interests at heart. I understand why some would have it. Even i would consider it if my wife were driving cross country without me. Although The iPhone 14pro has crash detection and satellite emergency service presently...which is why we upgraded to it.
