Considering Buying a Used Yukon XL

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and to the world of Yukon/Tahoe, etc. Used to be a die hard Jeep guy, but the family has grown and need more room.

I am considering buying a 2011 Yukon Xl Denali with $130k miles on it. The owner claims the car is perfect. Mostly highway miles. He admitted he drove it for Uber for 1 year. He is asking $19K for it.

I am very conflicted with this. I don't want to spend $40k-$60K on a newer or new one, was looking to keep it under $20k, but am having a hard time coming to grips spending almost $20k on a truck with 130k miles on it.

Do these trucks last a long time? When do they usually start breaking? I know each one is obviously different, but just curious what other people's experiences were.

The NNBS denali is a great truck. I run my own business as an auto detailer so im around a ton of cars including alot of GM full sizes. its a great truck that if its properly maintained will run alot longer than 130,000. However that's a ton of miles on a 2011. Over its total life span not alot but alot for a vehicle that's only 5 years old. And that price is high for that many miles. I would expect that price here in southern California where I live because everything California is more expensive. But in another state that's a bit high. Anyways that being said if it's in good shape and the seller has alot of maintenance records to show that it's been well cared for than its not a bad buy. However in that mileage range,you Will probably see some relatively in depth repairs. Probably suspension and air ride maintenance would be the biggest issue. Maybe some things under the front end. But its worth checking out.

See what else is out there. This is a big purchase. Don't pull the trigger until you've assessed the entire market in your preferred distance radius.

With this truck, assume the worst. It was dogged. You'll have to fix it or take a hit if you try to sell it once it breaks. Yes, that's always a risk, but when buying a used ride your objective is to minimize the risk. I recently bought a suburban with 145k but paid less than half of what youre looking at. It is a 2005, and doesn't have many more miles than the one you're looking at. I have a clunk in the front end which sounds like a bad ball joint, need shocks and tires all the way around, etc.

Just make sure there isn't a better deal out there and you'll know when to pull the trigger.

Yeah that's a good point. There are alot of deals out there. Find the one that's right for you.
