Whats up family I was a member of this forum a few years ago and had a 1999 tahoe Loved but had to let it go. A good friend of mine is considering to sale me is 2003 escalade for around 2 grand. He says the engine and transmission is very strong and it needs work on the front front differential so I have a few questions. 1. worst case how much will it cost to get the front differential repaired. 2. what else to look for wrong on the truck 3. do these tend to have the head gasket issue of the earlier years. I hope t all works out and I can come back to the family lol

How many miles does it actually have?

I don't believe any of the NBS have head gasket issues. Just intake gaskets issues lol.
Never had work on a front diff so I cant help ya there.
I would make sure it isn't burning oil. and do a compression test on it as well.

Love that style Escalade there great trucks, whats wrong with the front diff needs a complete rebuild? Call shops around you and get some prices cause in can vary by where you are, not sure about the head gasket issue maybe someone else can chime in, just check fluids, crawl underneath look for any leaks, look at the tires/suspension, take it for a drive see how it handles stops look for any sounds or issues, look at the guages see if it all looks good, check the power stuff, radio just look it over good

My 6.0 in my Sierra went to 310,000 I sold it after that and it was still pulling my boat good when I sold it, just smoking some. And mine wasn't maintained well at all lol. But in reality 2k for a nbs escalade is a good price. Unless it's just completely beat up.

Rebuilt front diff runs around $750-$1250 and you will still be lucky to get 80K miles out of them. It's a very common failure point on these AWD drivetrains. Also, you need to decide if you want to keep autoride working or not because at that mileage, I am sure some of the system is shot. Check for play and/or clunk in the steering, if so plan on replacing the linkage and shaft. Check for interior wear on seats, buttons, carpet... Check for buzzing sounds from the headliner... Make sure the auto HVAC works front and rear. If it has chrome wheels they are probably junk, the chrome did not hold up. Check for corrosion on the brake lines, they can blow out if not replaced preventively.
