Hi everyone, just looking for some advice please...the family go to suv is presently a 2002 GMC Envoy SLT...great vehicle with 123600 miles. Need something bigger for the dogs and the kids to use.
I've come across a 2007 Denali with the same mileage in good condition and well maintained. I can pick this up for $13500...any advice? Comments?
Had a dealer inspect the vehicle and has given it a thumbs up.
Am I going to be sorry for buying one with this mileage (gotta keep the kids safe) and is the price right?
Looking at comparable ads with the same mileage people are asking from $5000-$10000 more.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The miles are up there but thats one heck of a deal! If a trusted garage/ mechanic gave the thumbs up I'd say go for it.

I will note that i am relatively new here, and much more experienced people will hopefully post here shortly. But, based on my research when we were getting our trucks, here's what you will want to look at:

That would have the 6.2, the 6-speed transmission, AWD and autoride. The 6.2 should be solid based on what I've read, since it doesn't have AFM that year. The 6-speed and AWD system may be a source of headaches, depending on the maintenance it has had and the type of miles they are (highway vs. around town). The autoride will need maintenance / replacement parts eventually (maybe soon, if it hasn't already). Other than that, it should be solid if it looks good and runs well. You may have door lock actuator issues eventually also.

Do some research on the longevity of the AWD, 6 speed tranny and autoride systems in these trucks and see what if anything has been done on that particular one.

Here are some common things to look for.

First after going to see the truck after it has sat all night.

When the rear shock compressor comes on how long does it run ?

Oil pressure on startup?
All door locks and windows work.
Turn in heat in rear and make sure it blows hot back there.
Check the ac if you can compressor will kick on then fans.
Tranny cooler lines usually leak at that mileage. If they have been changed already that's a good sign.

Look for rust underneath. A good place to start is under the spare tire.
While under there look at the dust shields on the brakes ? Are they rotting?
U joints. On the drive shaft look okay?

Rack n pinion not leaking?

No excessive wetness staining in the underside of the motor.

On the inside
Pull up the Denali molding in between the carpet and the door. Wire harness in good condition no rust under there? No patches already?

Rear hatch opens and closes properly automatically?

That's a decent start.

Take the vin to a dealer and get the warrantee records. Any dealer can pull them. Then see what dealer did all the service and of possible go to that dealer and pull the service records.

thanks

Thanks for your advice. The truck was found to have a bad front right wheel bearing and that is it. It has maintenance records which were up to date. The tranny cooler lines were replaced as was the rear compressor. Besides the door handle recall that is it.
The miles on the car are highway as the owners are about 2.5 hours from a big city. They have a growing family and actually bought a new suburban
Underneath the vehicle is just the usual surface rust. The only option this truck doesn't have is navigation, the bench middle seat, and power running boards.
The truck has never towed either.
I don't think I should be too worried about the miles if everything has been maintained?
The owners complain about tire pressure loss due to the aluminum wheels...anyone else?
Merry Christmas

I end up topping the air off in mine every 2 months or so - worse in the wintertime, of course.

I have an 06' with 165k miles. My ride control compressor and my rear air shocks went at about 120k. That's still 120k miles on a pair of shocks. Anyway if it was driven right, and taken care of properly it should be fine. Shouldn't have any engine problems. I would say if anything a few sensors here and there might go bad. Like oil pressure sensor, engine temp sensor, that kind of crap. The parts made in China and Mexico fail lol.

Sounds like a top. Get her before she is gone. That's a great price.

Great price. Check for rust underneath. I bought an 07 Yuk XL Denali this year. Only had 61k miles, but it lived up north and had a few rust issues underneath. I've since fixed all that, but check urs anyway. Especially under the spare.

Things to know:
1. Check the version of ur nav DVD, see if it was upgraded. I think 2012 is v7 then they went to v2013 for ''13
2. Check under hood for the heater washer unit, probably gone, so at least u will know why the button doesn't work.

Oops, just saw no nav, ignore #1 then.

There is a 7 year rust/corrosion warranty. Right? Unlimited mileage?
