I'm worried that this will be an electrical gremlin that is impossible to track down, but maybe someone has had a similar experience.
Just picked up a '12 PPV. Unlike most resold police vehicles, this one has not just had harnesses cut, or at least they took a lot of effort to hide any harnesses they did cut. Functionally the car is almost flawless, however there is a continuous high pitch that does not go away - ever.
This is not alternator whine or a bad ground because though the sound is there while the vehicle is running, it does not go away after the vehicle is off and the key has been removed. I have had a work vehicle with a high pitch like this, but it would go away after the key was removed - this one does not. I can handle it when I'm driving, but it will drive me nuts knowing it is still making the sound when everything should be "dead."
I think this is a symptom of some system not fully shutting down on key out, because it's still sending some type of power to the speakers, but I have no idea where to start to look.
