Coolant leaking

I just bought a 2004 tahoe z71 from my friend and he said the water pump was leaking and knocked 500 off the price and said I could get it fixed. Took it in and the shop said they put pressure on the water pump and found no leak so I guess that means its leaking in the engine somewhere. He refilled it with coolant about a month ago and its now empty. I was wondering If anyone had any ideas how to check to see where its leaking. I read somewhere about pulling the sparkplugs out and seeing if there's coolant on them. Any help would be greatly apprecieated.

If you're smart I would ask for my money back. Sounds like you have internal leak.

The best way to check for an internal coolant leak is to check the oil.

If it looks light brown almost like a chocolate shake you have coolant in the oil.

If the oil looks good you probably have a very small leak, maybe in a hose or an intake gasket. take it to a shop that can put a special dye in the coolant that shows up under a UV light to find the leak.
