Coolant Sensor issue

So I messed up....when I was changing my plugs, what I believe is the coolant temp sensor wire fell apart. I went to unplug it because it was in the way of that first drivers side plug. The retaining peice broke first then the whole harness just fell apart. I'm not getting any reading to the cluster for the coolant temp and shes running rough. Mostly just hard starting. Attached pic of said sensor just incase I'm wrong. Question 1: Can I replace the connector
Question 2: can I drive this in the mean time without it overheating? My cooling system is otherwise fine.

I broke mine changing plugs, too. I bought a new sensor that came with a pigtail and put it in when I was changing heads. I didn't want to solder, so I bought a cheap tool to pop the pins out of the old connector and plugged them into the new. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009OR906

I don't know the ramifications of driving with it unplugged. I'm surprised it runs at all - that's a key component of I remember correctly.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

My whole connector basically exploded [emoji23] I couldnt solder it back together if I tried. I think I'll have to do the same thing you did. I'll just buy a new sensor with a pigtail and replace them both. I'm guessing I just need to follow the wires back to where is spliced in and button it back up well when I'm done. AC Delco has a reasonably priced product for the sensor. Hopefully it was detrimental to drive with it unplugged. I had to drive about 200 miles with it broken today. And another 10 tomorrow until I get off shift and can try and figure it out.
