Which muffler for an NBS Tahoe? (Muffler only. Stock pipes!)
I'm looking around for the Corsa Touring Muffler (or the dB, as they are basically identical from what I've read) for the NBS Tahoe but all that I find that is available are for the 07+ trucks. My truck is a 2000 Tahoe LS 4x4 in Charcoal Gray.
From what I've researched, the 2.75 inch stock pipes in the NBS trucks are just fine for airflow unless you plan on breaking 320+ HP. Mine is 285 ATM and I'm gonna try and see about having them stretched to at least 3 or 3.5 inches.
So, considering that the whole Corsa system is just a hair over $1,000 counting installation fees and the fact that the stock pipes just need to be stretched a little to be comparable, I was planning on getting just the muffler since that's where almost all the "magic" happens anyway .
I want the truck to sound almost 100% stock at start, idle, in town and steady highway driving. But when/if I have to WOT it, I want to take comfort in the fact that that muffler isn't just for the nicer sound and will help launch me halfway down the block without waking up or scaring the little girl in the station wagon next to me at the stoplight .
I've read that the Corsa Touring/dB will do just that.
But, alas, the good stuff is always hard to come by...
