I got a servo from a fellow member, tried to get my mechanic to install, but wont do it. (hes like a father to me and says i dont need to make a tahoe faster when i already have a car for that. blah blah blah) and another friend of mine, said he doesnt touch transmissions..

Well my question is, yes ive seen the threads of install, but they arent very clear to me and i can change my own oil and other stuff, but im very leary when it comes to my transmission. Dont want to mess it up. But from what ive read the servo really helps out shifting, which the tahoe in my opinion can really use.. So.. how hard is it to install in my garage? I dont have a c clamp, but can probly find one.. Other than that, i have the tools.

Sorry for probably the 100th thread on it, but i like new info and help.

It's about a half hour job once you get the snap ring out that holds the cover on.

This should help.

thanks, thats the one ive got saved for reference. Looks to be not that hard. Did you do it yourself?

Looks like i may be doing it myself. I dont really want to pay a trans shop and have them tell me why and dont do it.. So narco, you may be getting a bunch of pics and write up on it.
I will see when i get the time.

Ya I did, the only problem I had is that I forgot the 4th gear apply plate.:banghead: So I got to do it twice.

Even if your not to mechanically inclined its pretty easy and straight forward with the pictures.

Ok, I just got done with my corvette servo install and thanks to a crappy Tech Write up I found with a few key points left out it took me about 3 hours to do it. Here are some key points that you need to know:

1. Make sure the surface of the transmission is spotless, not just spray it off with a water hose but CLEAN.
2. The Snap ring is a *****.
3. When you go to remove the cover cut that dang blue O-ring and pull it out. If you don't the cover wont come off.
4. Some vehicles don't have enough room to take the entire assembly out as one, so you might just be taking it out piece by piece. That means putting it back in piece by piece.
5. I lost a quart and a half doing this, have extra on hand.

After it was all over, I'm glad I did it. The shifting is awesome, just wish I had better intel before I started.

First thanks for the info on keypoints.. That above bolded, is exactly why i havent done it yet. Im not to inclined on the trans and dont want to mess it up. But i may in the future attempt this.... Sounds like it makes a good difference.

Yeah that's the one I got, it is made by Transgo. It is actually cheaper to order from their Ebay store than their own website.

I've been driving it around town just so it shifts a lot and I LOVE it. Made a world of difference and I just did the corvette servo. I thought about doing the 4th gear servo as well but the tech at Transgo said that they thought it was over kill for that particular transmission.
