And before anyone asks, yes, I did a search on both topics.

Just got an 04 Suburban 1500LT, 4x4.

First one is just a "did I miss something?" question: In my owner's manual, page 3-54, it shows a "four wheel drive" light on the dashboard next to the Check Engine light. Manual says that "The four wheel drive indicator will light up when you shift a manual transfer case into four wheel drive and the front axle engages."

Now, I never saw this light up when I was starting the truck. Of course it has the 4 button panel to the left of the steering wheel that has a bright yellow light that lights up next to whatever drive selection the truck is in: Auto, 2 hi, 4 hi or 4 lo, and that all seems to work but I've never seen a dash indicator and since we got almost a foot of snow on Monday night, I've driven all over town in either auto 4wd or regular 4wd. I'm pretty sure the 4wd is engaged because I was going into some big snow drifts and I think if the 4wd wasn't working I would have known (or I would still be stuck.)

So my question is: Would an '04 1500 LT Suburban have a dashboard light indicating the vehicle is in 4wd? Or is this only on some other models of truck?

Second question is a bit simpler: My transmission display (the PRND321 display) above the DIC is rather dim. I can see it OK at night but in bright daylight it's hard to see. I can't see anything in the manual that would indicate that this light has a separate brightness display and the rest of the dash lights have normal brightness, as does the DIC. Does this likely mean that a bulb is out? And is this something that is easy to change?

Thanks in advance!

Mines 2wd so I don't know about that, but a dim PRNDL is most likely needing to have the solder joint "reflowed". Google TAHOE PRDNL dim, there's tons of videos showing you how to fix the issue. Or you can find someone to do it for you. You basically remove the cluster and send it out. You can drive without it if you need to.

no 4wd indicator on gage cluster if you have auto or push button 4wd.

OK, So it sounds like the indicator would only be there if there was a 4wd lever on the floor - Was this ever an option on a NBS/ GMT800 platform truck?

Maybe just a base-model V6 5 speed pickup?
