Cruise control issue

Today I hooked a trailer up for the first time. I was a 12 ft aluminum trailer with a couch and a chair on it. When I first left I had my fog lights on as always and when I went to set my cruise it wouldn't set I pulled over at the stop sign unhooked and rehooked up the trailer wiring from the tahoe and took off again this time my cruise worked fine till I clicked my fog lights on then my cruise shut off and wouldn't set again sometimes the light would slightly light up. When I got home all my lights everything worked same on trailer so I unhooked it and took off and my cruise and fog lights worked so I hooked the trailer back up and took off this time my cruise set with my fog lights so after a couple miles I turned around then I went to click the cruise on and it wouldn't work again

Is the socket on your truck an OEM one or does it look like someone wired it?

If OEM, then it Might be a wiring difference in the trailer that you are trying to hook up to than the normal wiring route. If you know someone else that has a trailer that you could hook up to, see if you end up with the same problem!

Yeah, some folks do some interesting wiring that will actually work on some trucks/trailers so you never know! Also, try to hook the lights up with the trailer unattached to the hitch of the truck, sometimes you can lose a good connection on the ground wire or lose it all together and the trailer will sort of act as a ground and cause some real weird conditions for trailer lighting!
