yesterday i picked up some lumber, i didnt even realize it was touching the dash. sure as shit, ive got some scratches. Naturally i dont want to repaint the whole thing right now if i can avoid it. Where can i get paint to match? its not peeling or anything, just the scratches. so i will sand, prime and then paint. and i dont expect perfect, im sure it has faded. I have what i believe is called 'pewter' interior.

I think you'll find most on here will recommend SEM as the paint of choice for our vehicles. As far as the color, that's a little harder. There are several different shades of pewter. I tried several before I got it right.

have you thought about having a interior repair guy look at it? they touch up all the stuff for car dealers and have all the tools to do it perfectly. had a large spot touched up on my wife's old car. couldnt even tell it was ever there

I used SEM but painted the whole dash and adjoining pieces because there is no perfect match for something that's faded.

i want to just buy time with the touch up. i figure not paying attention means i get to pull the whole thing in the spring.

I'm not sure how well you'll be able to get the SEM paint to adhere to the old paint that GM used but here's a link to the page of my build thread where I painted my dash. It has the color of the SEM that matches the pewter interiors. You can also see what I ran into when painting mine- the old paint just started peeling off where I tried to sand down the worn areas to feather in the new. I didn't plan on stripping the whole thing, I was going to paint over the top of the old paint. Problem is, as soon as I tried to feather an edge, the old paint would just keep peeling instead of feathering as soon as the sandpaper hit it. You might be able to feather yours, otherwise I guess you could just paint over the rough edges and wait until later to do the whole thing.
