Hey guys, I have an 05 Tahoe Z71. There is a rattle or chirping noise coming from the passenger side of the dash. Its driving me insane!! It only happens at low speeds, mostly in and out of my neighborhood, when I go over bumps that are on passenger side of Tahoe. Also i have noticed that it don't make the noise during rain or after I wash my truck. I have checked all I know to check without tearing my dash apart. Anyone have this problem? I would be thankful for any help, ideas, or where to start.

My 05 Tahoe noises are from flexing of vehicle when the front right wheel travels. It's not a suspension problem or noise from there, it's in and around the dash on passenger side. I have oiled the door hinges and looked for anything that could be loose. I think it could be something loose around the wiper area because it stops when its wet. I've looked but can't find anything loose. i believe that it has to be metal on metal and thin metal at that because of the high pitched noise that it is making.

The torsion bar suspension it notorious for making noises. You sure the noise is interior?

Yeah almost certain. I've done industrial maintenance for 15+ years and I'm 99% sure its inside or around the top of the firewall. I dont really want to tare the dash apart unless I have to due to causing more rattles than I fix. It sounds like its right under the dash but noises can throw you for a loop. It has to be close to there its so loud. What gets me is that it doesn't make any noise at all when its raining. Also only does it at low speeds in neighborhood on uneven surfaces (small holes on right side of road).

I've currently got the same noise and it's driving me nuts. I've shoved foam in a bunch of different areas in the dash in attempts to make it stop but haven't had such luck. Did anyone ever figure out a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Had metallic rattling sound from passenger side dash area at idle with ac on. Turned out to be one of the nut/washers loose on the bolt sticking out of the firewall in the engine bay. Mine was near the accumulator. Hope that helps.

I owe you a beer sir. I just had my a/c system serviced about 3 months ago so based on your recommendation I took a look. Sure enough, I was able to wiggle my accumulator and replicate the noise. Looks like the foam material that the factory put around the piping that goes through the firewall was getting old and was allowing just enough movement over bumps to cause the clicking/knocking noise. I took some foam I had and tucked it around the piping to firm everything up and stop the movement. Now, there's no more wiggle and no more noise.

I can't thank you enough, I would of never thought to check that. :)

I had the same problem with the noise coming from passenger side, and it turned out to be the glove box latch. A little grease and the noise went away.
