Hey folks,

I have a 2015 Yukon. Ive realized that my dash has a prominent outline/demarcation around where the passenger airbag would sit. Ive only noticed it since sitting in the loaner Tahoe's the dealership provided where the dashboard has no demarcation whatever.

At first I didn't think much of it, I spoke to my dealer and got the standard "within normal variation" excuse. I wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue and what, if anything, was done about it.

This will be my last GM truck. The dealership experience is probably the worst I have ever experienced.

Thanks

Bill

Pic?

Yea a pic would be nice.

I used to work in a plant that made dash panels for Mercedes. The are extremely thin around the airbag (for obvious reasons) but still had to meet minimum thickness threshold for durability. Several times per shift I would see one leave the airbag area in the mold because it was too thin

The outline was not there when I purchased the truck brand new. It has slowly developed and now is even more pronounced it irks me every time i sit in the truck. I have brought it to my GMC dealership's attention several times on every service. They all dismiss it as "it is what it is" and "its withing normal variation" hence flatly denying any repair/replacement. Funnily enough, they always provide me a loaner Tahoe/Yukon, which miraculously doesn't have any pronounced imprint whatsoever. Whenever I point this out they just shrug their shoulders.

GMC Anderson Buick in Cockeysville, MD just seems uninterested or could care less. I spoke to GM customer service who keep on having to refer to the dealership's opinion to rectify the issue which is bonkers. I should have just bought a Land Rover. At least, I would have known to expect the piss-poor service from the very start. I was offered a $500 accessory coupon from GMC to placate the issue but I turned it down. I am sure I cannot be the only one with this pronounced of a defect. If anyone has successfully resolved this, I would appreciate knowing of your outcome.

Go to a better dealer, GMC or Chevy that has more reputable service. Compare it to every other SUV on the lot and if it truly is more outlined than others ask them to replace it. If they don't, then you'll have to live with it.

I work at a dealer and replace NNBS dashes all the time because of the cracks and I do have to say that we probably wouldn't replace it under normal circumstances. It's something so minimal. And if you think buying a Land Rover would have been a better idea, I think you're sorely mistaken.

But try another dealer and compare. If they don't, live with it, or trade it for a much less reliable Euro.

I've got a 15 Tahoe LT and funny enough just noticed this same issue a couple weeks back. I thought it was just normal but now that you've pointed out that others don't have it, I'm curious why ours do?

Wow that is pronounced. Id find another dealer and keep arguing. Since it's obviously not as designed, maybe try arguing that you think it's a safety issue.

Sadly, I have tried two dealers in the area. The area GM rep was contacted who bluntly stated "it is what it is". A cop-out of an excuse. I have checked all the trucks at every dealer and they generally don't have the demarcation; the ones that do are faint and not nearly as pronounced as mine. I understand QC is at play in this instance, however, the way that GM is fighting me tooth and nail is embarrassing.

I've got a 2015i Tahoe LT and have begun to notice this same issue. Mine isn't nearly as pronounced as yours but it's definitely visible. I've got about 18,600 miles on mine currently.
