just a quick review/rant.
:emotions122:
ok so i finally ordered my hid fog light kit. as soon as brown dropped it off at my door i immeadiately began the install. install was a breeze after i figured out which prong went where but there were only two ways for them to fit so it was easy. after finishing up i check the lights and took pics (which ill be posting after i find my usb cord). later that evening when it starting to get dark i took a ride to test the light output. on my way home i stopped at a red light and heard that same noise that you hear when rocks fly up from the tires. i didnt think nothing of it but a few miles down the road i heard that noise that you hear when i run over a stick in the road. i would have pulled over to check it out but there was a state trooper cruising about 10 miles under the speed limit waiting for something to happen and since i had a few empty beer bottles in the kon i didnt want to take the chance of him pulling over to "Help" me out. so right before i got home i came up behing another truck and noticed one fog light out. i then switched them off and back on and realized that it wasnt coming back on. after i got home i check the fog light and saw what i didnt want to see. the wires from the ballast were hanging from the bulb and right then i knew that the ballast was what i heard earlier while driving......its funny because when installing them i knew good and well that the two sided tape that they sent to use to mount the ballast wasnt gonna hold for very long. i just didnt think it would fall so soon. the tape actually held very well to the truck but it didnt hold the ballast itself on it. i sent a message to ddm tuning a few mins ago but i doubt that the warrenty will cover this. they'll probably say it was the fault of the installer and they cant help out. oh well i guess it should happen now while im having this streak of bad luck. :Boo:

That's dumb on your part. You really trust tape to stick underneath your truck? Zip ties dude, zip ties....

What makes you think that? Seriously, that sucks, but for real, tape? I just did the install too. I don't even trust the zip ties I have on there. I am gonna put some more when I open thisgs up a bit more.

Atleast they are inexpensive.

Damn!!!! Don't take it personal but, I'm sorry this is funny as hell to me, not that it happened to you Lilsolo but the same thing happened to a co-worker of mine less than a week ago....I would have never thought I would hear a story like this twice.

Always use zip ties no matter what, i'm sorry it happened to you more than the guy I work with because he's the type that thinks he knows everything and it seemed like he was embarrased to tell anybody @ work what happened but he needed to know if anyone had a spare ballast.

wow i went out today to check the other ballast and guess what...its gone too. this time the ballast took out the mounting on my fog light too. now i can feel dumb about the situation. but im also very mad because there were no mounting instructions and now after sending two complaint tickets in to ddm ive gotten no response. the fog lenses were free because the seller sent me one clear and one tinted so i got a refund on them but i'd hate to have to pay for the hids twice.....does anyone know of a better set that uses screw to mount it?

IIRC, the Raptor's have screw holes. In fact, I'm sure of this, at least on the first gen ones, cause I broke one of the tabs using a screw that was too big. Makes me think the tape is to hold it in place initially while you screw it in.

yea the tape is just to help with mounting, not an end all be all... the raptors have screw holes because that's how I mounted them behind my headlights... 2 1/8 inch screws i think.... maybe 1/4... even if they did change it up in the last few months, I've read numerous threads on this and other forums giving different ways of mounting ballast boxes... none of which involve just the tape.... if no bolt holes are present, the use zip ties every enthusiasts best friend. not bashing you man, its an honest mistake, just browse the forum there are threads on where and how to mount these things... good luck man
