I currently have a 1996 Tahoe LT 2dr. Had it for 10 years, bought it used with 60k, it currently has 144k. It's been a GREAT truck, and is a semi-daily driver. But lately I have noticed a need for more in the vehicle than its capable of giving me. Towing our boat, hauling the kid around and other stuff...It pains me, but Ultimately the decision has been made to upgrade to a larger utility vehicle. I will likely be looking at a late-model Tahoe/Yukon(used) in the next few months.

Realistically, what are people getting for their 2dr Tahoe's. Looking around, I have seen prices from 2k - 10k.

Here are some specs:
1996 2dr LT
144,000 miles
4x4 (Mechanical/Floor Shift)
5.7L
Auto
Leather
Tow Package (including Oil and Tranny cooler)
BarnDoors
Dual Battery
Nearly rust free
(Bunch of other stuff as well)

Well taken care of!

Thoughts, Opinions & Suggestions are welcome and appreciated

Thanks,
Kevin

I just sold a really clean 95' 2door with similar features to yours, only difference is you have a vortec and mine was a TBI. Yours should be worth more $$. I got $5250 for the 95'. It only took me about 2 weeks to sell it after I got serious and listed it on the internet.

The 95' was replaced with the 99' 2door that I know have. The 99' is even cleaner than my 95' was and runs like a new vehicle. It already had a 6" RCX lift and aftermarket rims and oversize tires. I paid $7750 for it.

The 95' had 150,000 miles when I sold it.
The 99' had 133,000 miles when I bought it.

If you have any more specific questions about either of the deals let me know.

I got $4,500 for mine. 1995 with almost 200k on it. Body was really clean on mine. And mechanically in good shape.

10 years is a long time owning a vehicle. I can barley hold onto one for 2 years..

Its not a question of how much you're going to get for the truck, but a question of finding the right buyer. One of us would give you quite a bit more for a good 2dr than the average joe thats just looking for a cheap truck.

But I agree with sunlit, why not get an OBS 3/4 tonner? You get extra towing capacity, it's very capable compared to the newer trucks (all tuned for the concrete jungle now), and you get that big ol' nasty 7.4!!! :mexsmoke: The 454's are notoriously reliable and long lasting, they'll last forever between rebuilds compared to the 350.

not to mention you get to keep the 2dr

01-02 Tahoe's are all 4 doors that is why they are cheap, I see OBS 4 doors go all day long for less than 2k.

Where you live has the biggest impact but here is what I've bought and sold in the past.

95 Tahoe 200,000 miles non-running $1800, complete
99 Tahoe 180,000 miles good interior, lifted paid $5200 sold for $5400
99 Tahoe 125,000 miles perfect interior paid $4500 has a few dents and dings bought in California, the others were here in Austin.

Doubt you will ever get 10k for one, I'd start around 6500 or 7k and work down from there with a reasonable buyer.

All of those were bought and sold in the last 6 months.

I should add that while the mY cost a bit more a 2001 burb would be fantastic the drivetrain options improved and so did there reliability. The tranny then were really finally perfected at that point. You get a mild visual upgrade. And still less expensive. I really only want an '05 because if it was 3/4 ton version it has the the most strongest components I have seen built in to a suv. Options includes a gas sucking 8+ liter,4l80e,hydroboost, capacity, every cooler ever installed at the factory  as well as earlier upgrades like double din, integrated tailgate, 4w disk brakes, amber turns in the rear, variable 4wd with neutral, tpms and a fantastically designed electric system. But obviously finding a fully option one is a chore and still go around 15k. I would not buy Nothing newer there are just not enough upgrades in the vehicle to justify it. Still want you to keep your 2dr. Never knew one here who did not regret later.
