I'm sure I know the answer already based on most peoples opinions on dechroming. My 'Hoe is in pretty good shape for her age w/ only 85k miles ('05 LT). For reference here she is:
One of the eyesores was the wheels which had started to corrode around the mismatched metals from the wheel weights, so I have an appointment to get them painted on Friday. I originally planned to get them painted silver and keep the stock look, but now he's got me thinking of going black and keeping the center hubs chrome. If I do this, it got me thinking of blacking out my chrome bumpers and grille. So, what do you guys think? I'm not planning on going crazy w/ it, but I thought it may be a way to give it a mild custom look.
I just bought new tires and I figured paining them was going to be cheaper than buying brand new wheels. I have the P25 option on the 'Hoe -
1) Black wheels - keep center chrome caps or just paint all black.
2) Black grille w/ gold bowtie -or- paint to match the rest of the body
3) Black bumpers - both of my chrome faces have little circular dents in them, so I figure I could just swap the chrome faces with new primered ones and either paint them black myself w/ a clearcoat or have them done professionally.
What do you guys think? Opinions would be appreciated!
